Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements in Airports: Structural–Economic Evaluation and Proposal for a Catalogue

چکیده
Although the design of jointed plain concrete pavements could be solved by commercial software, there is still a need for simple tools to used in feasibility studies and preliminary cost–benefit analyses. This paper analyzed verified airports composed square slabs without tie dowel bars. The examined are laid on cement-treated base layer stabilized granular subbase layer. finite element software FAARFIELD was JPCP when they subjected airplane (i.e., turboprop C-130J Hercules) under different conditions. Seven subgrade load bearing capacity values, twenty traffic levels, two construction hypotheses constant or variable thickness deeper layers) were designed then with Westergaard theory order present proposal catalogue. Finally, cost per unit surface area calculated methods paving (by slip form paver fixed form). obtained results provide fast procedure airport JPCPs.

Smoothness variations in early-age jointed plain concrete pavements
This paper discusses the variations in the early-age pavement smoothness at different measurement times and locations in three jointed plain concrete pavements ( JPCPs) representing different ranges of construction times. Surface profile measurements were made during the early morning and late afternoon hours at different locations of the instrumented JPCPs during the first 7 d after constructi...
متن کاملEnvironmental Effects on Deformation and Smoothness Behavior of Early-Age Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements
In this paper, a study of environmental effects on the deformation and smoothness behavior of jointed plain concrete pavement ( JPCP) during its early age is presented. A newly constructed JPCP on US-34 near Burlington, Iowa, was instrumented and monitored during the critical time immediately following construction to identify its early-age behavior regarding temperature variations. The surface...
متن کاملBest Practices for Jointed Concrete Pavements / Blended Aggregates for Concrete Mixture Optimization Tech Brief
INTRODUCTION Historically, aggregate gradation has been controlled by specifications that call out envelopes for individual fractions, typically the coarse aggregate and the fine aggregate. The shortcoming of this approach is that the gradation of the overall system is not addressed. While it is sensible to stockpile coarse and fine fractions separately to prevent segregation, it is the combine...
متن کاملUltrasonic Tomography Technique for Evaluation Concrete Pavements
Ultrasonic tomography is an emerging technology that shows promise for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) during construction, or for making rehabilitation decisions in concrete pavements. However, the benefits of this emerging technology have not yet been fully captured for widespread use in highway infrastructure management. Verification of a state-of-the-art ultrasonic tomography devi...
